It’s your first time to Mexico and you are keen to start cooking with all the wonderful tropical produce that is readily available in Puerto Vallarta.
Either you went to one of the big Super Mercados or found one of the many amazing markets where the produce comes from local farms.
Now you are wondering how to clean those delicious Mexican fruits and vegetables.
Some foreigners may think that the traditional celebration of Dia Los Muertos is a scary and morbid practice, but over the many years I have spent here in Mexico I have come to love and appreciate this holiday.
From and outsiders point of view seeing the local businesses around Puerto Vallarta prepare for this holiday by showcasing skeletons and skulls, tombstones and altars may seem like a strange way to celebrate the dead. Continue reading “Celebrating Day of The Dead”
Casa Adobe is a quaint rustic adobe heritage house located in the quiet downtown neighborhood of Puerto Vallarta (where Elizabeth Taylor & Richard Burton lived) known as Gringo gulch and has lots of outdoor and indoor living space.
Casa Adobe is a furnished two bedroom, one and a half bathroom home. The Master bedroom has a king sized bed and the second room has one double and a single bed. Both bedrooms have flat screen TV with cable and Wi-Fi.
Puerto Vallarta is visually stunning in many different ways! From the lush jungle vegetation, to the colorful flowers that bloom year round, to the white washed buildings and red tiled roofs, the magnificent sunsets and the varying colors of blue between the ocean and sky to the growing and prominently displayed art of graffiti throughout Puerto Vallarta.
Graffiti has come a long way from unsightly tagging to beautiful pieces of street art. You will notice murals and graffiti placed in prominent areas around Puerto Vallarta blending in with the natural surroundings and bringing life to other areas with less color like school yards and concrete bearing public places.
High season and Low season are the two seasons that we experience here in Puerto Vallarta! Although in the past few years the low season is getting less drastic than it was many years ago. The low season here is a slow down of tourists visiting and this usually starts to happen after Semana Santa (Easter Break) and then begins to pick back up sometime in October.
I can remember ten years ago when low season was here everyone knew it and felt it, and many businesses would close their doors for three months which left our paradise feeling like a ghost town. Thankfully our low seasons are not that low anymore!
During the summer months we get a lot more National tourists that come to play and vacation here in our beach town. Kids are out of school and Puerto Vallarta offers a summer playground for the Nationals that live inland and want to spend time at the beach. Continue reading “Low Season In Puerto Vallarta”
Marina Vallarta is a charming area that is located just 2 minutes from the international airport and 15 minutes from down town Puerto Vallarta.
The marina hosts many luxury yachts and sailboats in its 450 slips. Some of the boats are here year round, while others are here for a season, or just a day or two to rest before continuing on their journey.
The marina has a beautiful boardwalk lined with many shops, spas, and restaurants which makes it a great place for window shopping, people watching and enjoying a good meal. It is also the place where you can book a fishing trip with one of the many fishing charter companies in Puerto Vallarta.
Here in the marina you will find restaurants in every price range to suit all budgets. There are a couple of places that specialize in breakfast, while other restaurants only open in the evenings.
This wonderful refurbished Mexican style home is located in the heart of el Centro. Just a couple of blocks from the beach, but among the best restaurants and galleries that Puerto Vallarta has to offer!
Casa de la Fuente has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, with a very large rooftop deck featuring ocean sunset views into the Banderas Bay. This home is equipped with 2 gourmet kitchens with vast areas for entertaining outdoor or indoor depending on the mood you’re in.
When you enter Casa de la Fuente you can feel the positive vibes from the previous owners and families who used it for the past 40 years! This house has a lot of history and was one of the first homes built behind the Church of Parque Hidalgo. With a mix of contemporary and Mexican style, this cozy and inviting home has all the finest and modern features you would expect in a new home.
While the house is located in the heart of Vallarta, it is one of the quietest homes you can find in this area. You can hear the water running from the fountain on the first floor through to the second floor and it gives you a real sense of peace and relaxation.
It never ceases to amaze me how difficult such a simple thing like making or receiving a phone call in Puerto Vallarta and Mexico can be.

If you are planning to bring your smart-phone to Puerto Vallarta on your vacation make sure to change your settings, turn off your package included Internet, and manually connect to the available Internet from your Hotel.
