More Bus Basics for Fun Rides Around Puerto Vallarta

I have written about buses in Puerto Vallarta before because I take buses everywhere. I like the ride.

I travel light and catch the bus at the Airport right outside the exit near the highway. Look for a group of locals — they’re waiting for a bus.

The bus system is very efficient although buses in Puerto Vallarta come in all shapes, sizes, and are decorated by each driver.

The cost is 6.5 pesos (about 60 cents) to everywhere in town. If you go outside of Puerto Vallarta the cost is higher. For example the bus to Boca Continue reading “More Bus Basics for Fun Rides Around Puerto Vallarta”

Authentic Mexican Food Delicious at Vallarta’s Café de Olla

One way to find the best “Comida Mexicana” (authentic Mexican food) is to go where local families go.

It seems as if Café de Olla in Puerto Vallarta is always stuffed with Mexican families and tourists alike, all really enjoying their food and “delightfully stiff” drinks. And this has been going on for years, so you know it’s a solid, well-run place. I’ve always found the service gracious, and the food has always surpassed my high expectations. English Spoken in the Friendliest Place on Earth!

Coffee shop view at Los Muertos

My personal experience is that more than half of the people in Old Town speak enough English to easily talk to a Gringo.

What’s even better is that most Mexicans want to try.

Puerto Vallarta is known as the friendliest city in the world and Old Town is the most friendly of all.

So it’s easy to use Spanish or stick to English.

Pretty soon you’ll find yourself smiling and not worrying about anything.

People are friendly in Old Town because it’s a joyful place in any language. So say “Hi” or “Hola” and be happy!

My First Time Here and I Stayed

I came to Puerto Vallarta on vacation and after only one day, I decided to stay. This is one of the most fun and interesting cities in the world.

I was very lucky to choose the very best area of Vallarta by first coming to Old Town.

Signs with Viejo Vallarta Map are found throughout Old Town.

Also called the Romantic Zone and Viejo Vallarta, this part of the city has old-time charm with cobblestone streets overlooking Banderas Bay.

The beaches are the best in town and Los Muertos pier is great for people watching. People from all over the world mix with Mexican families to enjoy this wonderful, fun area of Old Vallarta.

By the way, muertos means dead so it’s the pier of the dead and the beach of the dead. You can ride a galleon and hear the 150-year old story that pirates were killed and laid out on Los Muertos beach.
